This drawing depicts the Customs House and the Customs House Point being ignored and
bypassed by most everyone. Some of these transgressors can be seen in the foreground with their keg of wine. The lagoon harbor is on the left.

Artistic liberties have been taken in this interpretation of an oil painting by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as “Canaletto”.
