Lee Chabot – Artist

Lee Chabot

The essence of my work centers on impressions of a subject and how I express them through line, composition and color. What inspires me about a subject usually determines the style in which I express my interpretations, with the goal of capturing the viewer’s interest.

I have always been fascinated by what perspective and line do to create a visual narrative using color and its endless possibilities.

My work, sometimes complex and other times simple in its geometrical arrangements, possesses a certain vitality and movement created through the use of palette knife and brush to create energy and motion. Other times, bush techniques are used to create subtle and introspective compositions while exploring the possibilities of perspective within two-dimensional space, influenced by early Cubism.

My work has been exhibited in renowned galleries that include Signature Gallery, Laguna Beach, CA; Gallery 822, Santa Fe, NM; Agora Gallery, New York, NY; ArtBlend Gallery, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Art Hamptons, Bridgehampton, NY; and the Providence Art Club, Providence, RI among other galleries, associations and museums nationwide. I am an elected member of the Connecticut Academy of the Fine Arts. My works have been reviewed in: American Art Collector Magazine, Artscope Magazine, Art is Spectrum and in international publications and can be found in private collections around the world.

My  styles range from semi-abstract to abstract expressionism, with a focus on composition as a unifying component, with the sentiment that composition is the most important aspect in the successful achievement of any painting.

Painting is expression when words will never do.”
