Domine Vescera Ragosta is a native of Providence, Rhode Island; she studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and also received private instruction. Her work has been exhibited in many group and solo exhibits. Working various media, Ragosta’s first love is oils. She considers herself an interpreter of nature with an impressionistic style. Her recent work employs broad, free strokes with an intense usage of color.

Edwin Wilwayco is an internationally acclaimed abstract expressionist painter born in the Philippines and presently resides in Rhode Island. His artistic genius brings intense color, texture and movement as well as height, breadth and depth to his work. In Wilwayco’s words, “painting is discovery”.

Steve Barylick lives in Massachusetts and recently graced the cover of Artscope Magazine with his abstract, energetic works full of texture, color and movement. After a long career as an art and creative director he now pursues his first love of creating paintings that allow the viewer to interpret what they see and feel.

Lee Chabot never disappoints with his voluminous use of color and placement within his works. How he interprets the landscape inspires both the palette and painting style he chooses to work in. “Painting is expression when words will never do.”

The Sculpture Courtyard is filled with works by Whitmore Boogaerts. His use of stainless steel, glass and painted steel creates both stationary and kinetic sculpture that will certainly enhance any landscape whether large or small.

Ringo Starr - Artists

May 15 - June 27

Hold Me Love Me Chef Ala Mode

In honor of the 45th anniversary of The Beatles coming to the U.S., Chabot Fine Art Gallery is exhibiting a special collection of artwork composed by Ringo Starr. Also included are works by Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Hirschfeld.

The majority of works being shown at the gallery are limited edition prints created and hand signed by Ringo Starr. Posters and limited edition books by the artist will also be available. Ringo started painting with acrylics at a young age, but it was not until the 1990’s when he was introduced to oil paints that he felt comfortable as an artist. Although Ringo has experimented with colored pencils, acrylic and oil paints; computer art is become his preferred medium because of its immediate affect.

Mostly depicting amusing characters, this “pop” artist uses bright colors and asymmetrical patterns to create whimsical works of art. Ringo started creating works of art on his computer while he was touring. “I started in the late nineties with my computer art. While I was touring it gave me something to do in all those crazy hotels you have to stay in on the road“. - Ringo Starr

All proceeds from the sales of his work help to benefit the Lotus Foundation Charity (www.lotusfoundation.org) whose primary objective is to assist in family and child welfare, animal protection, and addiction recovery and education.

“RED HEART” COLLECTION

To celebrate the spirit of Valentine’s, Chabot Fine Art Gallery introduces its “Red Heart” collection on view January 14-February 16, 2009.  This exhibition will include works by Jacqui Faye, Carolyn Latanision, Lenny Rumpler, Jeffrey M. Sparr and prominent artist and founder of the gallery, Lee Chabot.  This media includes a diverse collection of acrylics, glass, oils, photography and watercolors.  Each work in the collection will have a touch of red to signify the romantic season of love.

The subtleness of emotion and the anticipation of what happens next play large roles in Faye’s work.  She contain mostly human figures or portraits within her work.  There is often a light and playful feeling within the colors and composition on the canvas. Other times one can feel an intensity and depth of real life experiences within the dramatic palettes and brushstrokes.

Peace, love and the pleasures of life are the main themes in Sparr’s work.  Mostly creating in acrylic, Sparrs’ brilliant color palette and keen sense of movement brighten any mood, room or wall.  His paintings are whimsical and fun painted with obvious fast motions.

Chabot and Rumpler depict a more realistic scene within their works.  Both, Chabot with his paintbrush and Rumpler with his camera, are able to view the world as unique angles and interesting viewpoints.  Both prominent artists, Chabot and Rumpler, through their uses of juxtaposition and color of everyday people and places, show the viewer a different way to see the world.

Grand Opening Exhibition: August 29- October 31, 2008

To celebrate their grand opening, Chabot Fine Art Gallery is proud to exhibit an eclectic collection of original contemporary works produced by Lee Chabot, Neal Drobnis, Julie Houck and Carolyn Latanision. This mixed media exhibition features works produced in oil, acrylic, watercolors, pastels and glass.

The uses of color as well as the juxtaposition of people and architecture all contribute in making this collection of works complementary to the gallery and to each other. Although each artist has their own style and technique, this collection challenges viewers to acknowledge similarities and differences within these four artists and their works.

People and architecture figure prominently in Lee and Carolyn’s work. Lee, mostly working in oil, and Carolyn in watercolor often depict daily lives of others and the connections that are made between themselves and their environment. Neal and Julie create works that speak directly to a person immediately upon viewing them. Neal’s glass creations are breathtaking in their creativeness and colors. Julie’s Plein Air works and technique of painting, using oil on panel and oil on linen, are filled with atmosphere and strong emotion. All artists are nationally recognized and have participated in many one-person shows and group exhibitions.
